Editor’s Note: As the college approaches the end of its fiscal year (March 31) and the wrap-up of the 2018-19 academic year, it is customary that some reshuffling of personnel occurs. That was reflected in a memo issued to staff by President Patti France on March 26. The Scene thought some of that info would be of interest to students too. France wrote:
Included in the 2019-2020 Budget are a total of 22 net new full-time positions - 11 faculty, seven support staff and four administrative positions. These positions will be implemented over the coming months. The college’s positive financial outlook is a result of your efforts to ensure financial sustainability and academic excellence.
To support continued enrolment growth in the Schools of Business and Information Technology and Media, Art and Design, Jim Marsh will assume the position of Dean, to help align synergies between both Schools. In his new appointment, Jim Marsh will have responsibility for the leadership of the Zekelman School of Business & IT, and the School of Media, Art and Design. In this role, Jim will continue to report to Dr. Ken Blanchette, Associate Vice President, Academic. In addition, Anthony Mancini will assume the position of Chair of the Zekelman School of Business & IT, and Jody Merritt will continue as Chair, School of Media, Art and Design. The position of Operations Manager, School of Business and IT, will be posted in the coming days.
In an effort to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Academic sector, three programs in the School of Engineering Technologies will be transferred back to the School of Skilled Trades under the leadership of Chair Lido Zuccato. These programs include Mechanical Techniques – Precision Metal Cutting, Mechanical Engineering Technician – Industrial, and Mechanical Technician – CAD/CAM.
HUMAN RESOURCES, SAFETY & FACILITIES MANAGEMENT SECTOR
With the retirement of Dolph Barsanti, Vice President of Student Services and Administration last summer, the area of Facilities and Health & Safety transferred to Joe Sirianni, Vice President of Human Resources, Safety & Facilities Management. In that realignment, Jeff McEwan assumed the role of Manager, Health & Safety on an interim basis. In keeping with the original organizational vision and with the anticipated growth in Recreational Services and the impending completion of the Sports Park, Jeff McEwan will transfer back to the position of Manager, Recreational Services. Jeff McEwan will again report directly to Christy Gatto, Director, College Recreational Services. As a result of this realignment, Human Resources will begin the search for a Manager, Health, Safety & Wellness.
