There will be an election for the 2020-21 Presidency of the Student Representative Council (SRC), after two candidates filed nomination papers for the position this week.
Running for the Presidency are, pictured, current Vice-President of Student Affairs Jorge Gutierrez Calzada and current Director Cassandra Mailloux.
Both filed nomination papers by the January 8th deadline.
To maintain the continuity of the SRC as a business corporation, its bylaws call for a President to, preferably, take the form of a person who has served during the past year on the council’s Board of Directors. If no current Director had stepped forward by the 8th, nominations for the Presidency would have been opened to students-at-large.
On Thursday, January 9, nominations opened for the election of 2020-21 Executive positions: the Student Affairs and Downtown Student Affairs Vice-Presidencies. The deadline for submitting those completed packages is Monday, January 20.
The three Executive positions will be the subject of campaigning throughout February, leading up to an on-line election – conducted via Blackboard – from Monday, February 24 to Friday the 28th.
Also available as of Thursday, January 9 are applications for the SRC's appointed Directorships. The deadline for submitting those completed packages is March 2.
The new SRC board will assume office on May 1.
