Among the Strategic Directions that have been part of the comprehensive Annual Plans set by the college’s Board of Governors (BofG) for the past several years is “increasing community engagement”.
The associated objective is to “strengthen the connection between the college and the community, to reinforce the college brand and image through volunteerism by students and staff.”
During its February 25th meeting, the BofG received an update from Vice-President of College Communications and Community Relations John Fairley, providing an overview of that sort of community outreach activity on the part of students and staff.
And what an overview it was ... It shows individual students, faculty members and staff, whole classes and programs, and student organizations and clubs donating thousands of hours of volunteerism to dozens of local and national projects, charities, health-care/social-service and educational agencies, and fundraising endeavours.
