The musical group, The S’Aints, and its community partners, St. Clair College and Caesars Windsor, recently announced the 2018 beneficiaries of the annual “Sleighing Hunger” Christmas concert and CD release.

The fundraising concert on Friday, December 21 at 8 p.m. at Caesars’ Colosseum theatre, will benefit 16 local food banks, in partnership with the Windsor-Essex Food Bank Association (WEFBA) and Chatham Outreach for Hunger (COH). This is the largest number of organizations to be assisted by the charity concert since it came to The Colosseum stage in 2012.

The WEFBA is a community-based, not-for-profit organization, comprised of 15 local food banks. Collectively, they enhance their ability to reach thousands of individuals and families in Windsor and Essex County who need emergency food supplies. Thanks to the association, in 2018 they provided access to nearly 128,000 people in need. The food banks include the Downtown Mission, Drouillard Place, Community Food Pantry Lakeshore, three Salvation Army locations, the Unemployed Help Centre, The Well-Come Centre, Windsor Homes Coalition and others.

Chatham Outreach is a non-profit, charitable organization servicing the Chatham-Kent region. Supported entirely through the generosity of the community, in 2016 it served over 3,000 households and 358 families, providing nutritious meals for those in crisis.

This is the sixth year that The S’Aints, St. Clair College and Caesars Windsor have partnered to raise funds through the holiday concert. With 100 percent of the ticket sale proceeds going back to the community, they have successfully raised nearly $200,000 to feed those in need.

“As long as The S'Aints keep recording CDs and performing concerts, St. Clair College will be committed to the Sleighing Hunger project," said St. Clair President Patti France. "In addition to having become one of this area's most popular holiday traditions, this event provides essential funding to local food banks, and spurs awareness of the year-round dilemma of hunger in our midst. St. Clair's students and staff are always pleased to be engaged with our community – and never moreso than in the case of this cause."

This year’s media sponsors are AM800 Bell Media, Devonshire Mall and The Windsor Star. Stay tuned for exciting sneak peek events throughout the community before the December 21 show date.

Tickets start at $25 Canadian (plus applicable taxes), and are on sale now. Caesars Windsor Box Office hours are Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 12 noon to 8 p.m., and on additional show days (show days open until midnight). Tickets are also available at St. Clair College campuses (Room 335 at main campus), Devonshire Mall Guest Services, and ticketmaster.ca.
