A COMMENT ABOUT THE EDUCATIONAL ASPECT
From Dan Rehel,
Production Manager, Entertainment Technology Program
I would like to share and congratulate my Entertainment Technology students on a job well done this past Saturday.
Over 1,000 people packed the SportsPlex – 1029 to be exact!
Every year, sometimes twice a year, the Entertainment Technology program coproduces a live wrestling event on campus. This was our eighth event with Border City Wrestling.
The students put into practice all the skills and knowledge they have been learning in the classroom, and took care of all the production elements (rigging, lighting, sound, video and special effects). The event was filmed using our three-camera, high-definition system. The director who worked with us on this is a world-class director, currently working for MLB. Portions of this event will be used by Impact Wrestling, and be broadcast on networks to over 120 countries.
I’d like to thank my students for their hard work.
In addition, the event wouldn’t be possible without the help from Christy Gatto and the athletics staff, Crystal Benn and the rest of the SRC, John Fairley and the college’s Alumni Association, the wonderful people in the Facilities Management Department, and Mike Poirier and Media Services.
